Much has changed at WHRO Public Media since we began airing in 1961 as Home Room One—as a way to use a new technology – the television to provide educational programming in classrooms. Founded by two school systems nearly sixty years ago, our ownership has now expanded to 21 school divisions with the additions of West Point and Surry. WHRO Public Media has enjoyed a proud history and has grown into four TV stations WHRO TV-15, WHRO Create, WHRO World, WHRO KIDS and has expanded to six radio channels, including WHRO 90.3 FM and WHRV 89.5 FM. We’ve been at the pulse of pop culture, technology, current events and most importantly, education. Everything we do – everything we create – it’s always about education and enhancing the lives of citizens in our region.

WHRO Public Media offers employment opportunities in a variety of disciplines including communications, education, creative services, programming, interactive services, information technology, development, engineering, accounting and many other areas. Additionally WHRO has requirements from time to time for contract services in various trades and professional services.
