Online Dining Editor

D Magazine is looking for a new online dining editor to lead our SideDish section. This person will shape the magazine’s daily food and drink coverage by exploring trends, breaking news, introducing restaurants new and old, and profiling the people—the chefs, cooks, waitstaff, and more­—that make this one of the country’s most vibrant dining scenes.

You’ll also be in charge of our restaurant and bar directories, both online and in print, which requires fact checking existing listings and adding new businesses as they open. This role will include writing and editing, as well as assigning work to freelancers and collaborating with the magazine’s dining critic to establish an editorial strategy for our food and drink coverage.

Key Responsibilities

• Reporting, writing, assigning, and editing stories for the SideDish section of DMagazine.com
• Fact checking the online directories and managing the “Guide” portion of the print magazine, which includes a selection of restaurants from the directories
• Collaborating with the dining critic to execute the editorial strategy for the website
• Writing a weekly email newsletter
• Occasionally writing pieces for the print edition of D Magazine, helping with service packages, and other editorial work as necessary

Requirements, Experience, and Attributes of Ideal Candidates

• Bachelor’s degree and at least three years journalism experience
• Experience with line-editing and expert knowledge of AP style
• Familiarity with the Dallas dining scene is a bonus
• Exceptional organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
