Company Description:

The Catholic Diocese of Richmond encompasses all of the southern part of Virginia — a territory covering approximately 36,000 square miles. It is one of the oldest dioceses in the country having been established in 1820 by Pope Pius VII. Today, there are over 220,000 active Catholics within the Catholic Diocese of Richmond involved in 149 parishes.

Our diocesan family has many faces. We have a wide scope of ethnic and racial identities and backgrounds — Hispanic, Filipino, African American, Korean, Vietnamese, Eastern and Western European. We come from places all over the country and the entire globe. Many of our Catholic people are military personnel attached to the large number of military bases in the diocese. 

Having served the Catholic Diocese of Richmond for more than 90 years, The Catholic Virginian is an integral part of the outreach done by the diocese’s Office of Communications. In print, the biweekly publication reaches approximately 80,000 Catholic households, chronicling Catholic life with a blend of local, national and international news and features.
