About WXXI WXXI is the essential, life-long educational public media resource that engages, inspires and strengthens our community by bringing highly valued media services when you want them, the way you want them. As a PBS and NPR partner WXXI brings a variety of media and culture to the Western New York area. As a PBS member station, WXXI operates five television stations, features award-winning children’s shows, public affairs, science and nature broadcasts. Those programs are often brought to multiple digital platforms to increase our reach among those who prefer to get their media on a non-traditional or mobile device. As an NPR station, WXXI News provides exceptional journalism, comprehensive local, state, and national news, civic engagement, and community connectedness. We also host a two-hour daily talk show, Connections with Evan Dawson. In addition to our NPR station, we operate five additional independent stations that vary from dedicated classical and AAA music. In addition to our on-air and television programming, WXXI provides a wide range of outreach and community lifelong learning events. We provide educational training and informal fun family learning to areas in our community. WXXI Education offers a wide variety of services to unserved and rural communities. Our targeted educational community outreach delivers services to the community through educational programming, Ready To Learn, pubic media resources to preK-12, adult education and out of school learning organizations. WXXI also owns the Little Theatre, a five-theatre cineplex that presents American independent and foreign films, plus a café with live music and art exhibition space and CITY magazine, a monthly magazine dedicated to providing in-depth coverage of the arts and culture in the Greater Rochester and Finger Lakes area.
