Job Description
Chapman University’s Dodge College of Film and Media Arts invites applications for a full-time non tenure track position as an an Instructor or Artistic Assistant Professor of Broadcast Journalism, effective August 2025.
Dodge College seeks a seasoned broadcast journalist to enrich our faculty. The ideal candidate will bring professional experience, academic knowledge, and a passion for nurturing the next generation of broadcast journalists.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will teach four courses in both the fall and spring semesters, which could include an introductory class for freshmen, and a capstone class of juniors and seniors that produces a weekly newscast seen live on local cable, as well as other classes.
The successful candidate will also serve as faculty advisor to undergraduate students within the Broadcast Journalism and Documentary major,
Serve on university and Dodge College committees and other projects as assigned
Maintain currency in the industry
Job Requirements
Qualifications Required
Terminal degree or an MS with significant industry experience
Significant experience working in national and/or local television newsrooms
Significant experience on digital and social media platforms
Produced significant work that has achieved national and industry recognition.
Multimedia journalism experience who can teach students the storytelling skills needed today: videography, editing, social media, cross platform writing.
