Social Media Content Creator

Job Description

Pennon News is seeking a social media creator to work with a dedicated social-first team covering local news and telling stories in creative new ways across TikTok, Instagram, X, YouTube, Facebook and other platforms. The social media creator will play a pivotal role in audience development for LancasterOnline, the leading source of local news for Lancaster, Pennsylvania. The social media team will work in one of Pennsylvania’s largest newsrooms alongside journalists who are committed to listening and being directly responsive to readers.

Funded by a one-year grant with possible renewal.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, related field or equivalent experience. 
• At least 5-10 years’ social media experience (content creation, publication, analytics, paid campaigns).
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. 
• Ability to work and collaborate in a mixed-media team environment, to multitask in a deadline-driven newsroom and to adapt constructively and creatively to change.
• A firm grasp of current events.
• A keen interest in and knowledge of news competitors and partners.
• Thorough familiarity with journalism and libel law.
