News Reporter Location: Bangor, Lewiston, Portland, Maine

We’re looking for a general assignment reporter to provide high-quality content for radio and other news platforms. Working collaboratively, this position files newscasts and program segments, pitches daily story ideas, and voices and produces multi-media stories. Additionally, our News Reporters develop sources and beats, engage with the public, and excel at working quickly on timely news as well as planning for long-term reporting projects. The ability to react to, produce and post breaking news across the 24-hour news cycle, including evenings, weekends, overnights and early mornings, is a core requirement.

Job Requirements: At least 2 years’ experience as a journalist, public media experience preferred. Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Radio news production preferred, television experience helpful. Deep familiarity with Maine preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required, including public speaking. Regular travel throughout the state and a valid driver’s license is required. A pre-employment criminal background check is required.
Hybrid Work Schedule: This position is based in one of our Maine offices (Bangor, Lewiston, Portland) and may be eligible for a hybrid work schedule after an orientation and training period. Hybrid work schedules require 2-3 days per week in the office and attendance at on-site meetings.
